Regretful news

Hi, I'm going to stop regularly updating this blog now as I need to devote more of my time to something else. I might still update with new and interesting stuff I cook, but don't count on it, as I've been eating in a lot these weeks and yet did not post it up.

Sorry to those I might disappoint, and for those who feel like they still want to read any of my blog, try http://straythoughtshome.blogspot.com/. I'll still be updating that (God knows I need that for my sanity)

PS: Try adding some diced up raw garlic into your salad. It's extremely healthy and spices it up too =)

Nobody likes to eat alone

But hell do I love to cook for myself. And here's why:

Tada! Jagung(corn), Tempura Oyster Mushroom and random Fried Chicken Breast! =P

It's so simple, so carefree. No pressure to 'perform', no going over the top to make everything perfect, no over-thinking who likes what and doesn't eat what...

Only really starving people or unconventional eaters can top cooking for myself.

This meal was supposed to be corn, meat and salad...but then I saw the mushrooms, thought of my flour, made too much batter and subsequently fried too many mushrooms...ended up cutting only a tiny piece of chicken to be cooked and the salad was replaced by a healthy after-meal papaya dessert.

And best of all, this extremely de-stressing meal tastes fantabulous! The batter was just right, making the mushroom crispy and absolutely delectable(all in the seasoned flour my dears!), the chicken was surprisingly juicy(I normally tend to overcook them because I prefer them dry) and the corn was just sweeet.

PS: Fasting was fun, yadayadayada.

Fasting Commences

Today, I have decided to start fasting. But it isn't a real run yet because I ate late in the morning, as I woke up late. So real fasting will begin tomorrow for 7 days.

I hate it being referred to as "dieting". And, I especially hate all the retards out there who even gave "dieting" this very bad taste in the mouth.

It's like "Eww you're dieting? What the hell's wrong with you?"

Many people are amazingly oblivious to the other definitions of diet, such as:
  • a prescribed selection of foods
  • a legislative assembly in certain countries (e.g., Japan)
  • follow a regimen or a diet, as for health reasons; "He has high blood pressure and must stick to a low-salt diet"
  • the usual food and drink consumed by an organism (person or animal)
  • eat sparingly, for health reasons or to lose weight
  • the act of restricting your food intake (or your intake of particular foods)

I usually refer to diet as "the usual food and drink consumed by an organism", but it always gets misunderstood as "the act of restricting your food intake to lose weight". And then all the retards out there will get all stupid and make it seem shameful to even mention the word "diet".

I mean, don't we have enough idiots in the world who think women should be stick-thin? Now we have to struggle with another new generation of idiots who make it shameful to want to have a healthy lifestyle!

So yes, I do absolutely resent anyone who thinks my fasting has anything to do with dieting or slimming down. No, there is no noble reason why I'm doing this. I just don't see any reason why not. And I like the challenge to self-discipline myself.

Sorry, this is not at all cooking-related because I'm out of groceries today to make myself a decent meal to break fast. I'm just venting out a little.

Non-cooking related advertisement

'Sell Out' is awesome. Go watch it if you haven't.

Also, due to monetary issues I haven't been blogging about my cooking for a while. Oatmeals don't make good pictures. Neither do random-stuff-in-kitchen-thrown-together.

Salad...for meat lovers?

Bacon Fruit Salad
Serving: 1

Difficulty Level: Easy-peasy

Ingredients: Watermelon(cubes), Green pepper/capsicum(diced), tomato(diced), grapes, grey oyster mushroom and bacon slices.

So yeah really, need I say more? This recipe is so simple I could cry over its simplicity and due to the inherent saltiness of the bacon I did not add any seasoning to it at all.

Why did I come up with this weird concoction? Well I was supposed to fast for a week starting tomorrow so I thought I'd have a small dinner to prepare myself. But I ended up having my menses(and if you cringe, grow up please), so I can't go through with my plan after all.

Surprisingly, the salad isn't really as strange as you might think. The savoury taste of the bacon and mushroom(sauteed with the bacon) just blends in wonderfully with the sharp distinct taste of the tomato and green capsicum, all topped with the delicious sweetness of grapes and watermelon.

No, I'm not a conventional eater.
